About the URL Encoder / Decoder

A stray ampersand or space breaks a tracking URL silently. Encode the exact component you need, or paste a full URL to decode it into readable parameters — all without hitting a server.

How to use it

  1. 1Paste the valueUse encodeURIComponent semantics for a parameter value, or encodeURI for a full URL.
  2. 2Pick the encoding modeSwitch between component encoding and full-URL encoding, or decode an escaped string.
  3. 3Copy the resultThe output is ready to paste into a link, redirect rule or API client.

Why use this url encoder / decoder?

  • Nothing leaves your device. The work happens in your browser tab. There is no upload endpoint in this app, so your files and text cannot be stored, logged or seen by us.
  • No upload wait. You skip the round trip to a server entirely. Results are limited by your own CPU, not by network speed or queue size.
  • Free, no account, no quotas. No sign-up wall, no watermark, no daily limit. Optional accounts only exist to save favourites and presets across devices.

Frequently asked questions

Is my URL safe to use here?

Yes. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you paste or open is sent to a server, and the page keeps no copy after you close it.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Every tool is fully usable without signing in. An account only adds saved favourites and reusable presets.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The interface is mobile-first with large touch targets and a stacked layout, so it works on phones and tablets as well as desktops.

What is the difference between encodeURI and encodeURIComponent?

encodeURI preserves characters that are meaningful in a full URL, such as slashes and question marks. encodeURIComponent escapes everything except unreserved characters, which is what you want for a single parameter value.

Why do spaces become %20 or +?

%20 is the standard percent-encoding for a space in a URL. The + form comes from HTML form encoding (application/x-www-form-urlencoded) and is only interpreted as a space in that context.
